Research

Conducting research and surveys in the field of higher education counselling and tracking students’ mental health status trends is one of the most important areas of FETA’s activity.

We aim to bring an up-to-date insight into the present mental health and wellbeing status of students in higher education. We have published several studies related to the mental health needs of students, service offers and potential areas of development. Besides that, our research projects focus on a number of issues: dropout phenomenon and the role of counseling in decreasing it, social relations  shaping studies and career planning, the relationship between emergence of dysfunctional attitudes, drug use, and life skills, mapping risk behavior in the youth, quarter-life crisis among students of higher education, resources and obstacles during the critical years of career beginning, patterns in managing insecurity and creating security, the relationship between family narratives and anxiety of the future in fresh graduates etc.

Since 2006 our association has been publishing thematic volumes of studies yearly in the series called FETA books. The latest issue is devoted to the online counseling experience gained through the COVID-19 pandemic while previous volumes discussed the topics of peer counseling, talent management, career beginning and career development, the crises of emerging adulthood and other psychological phenomena. Publications are in Hungarian. You can find the complete list of publications here.
